Empowerment through Education

Members

Empress Land is reaching regions across the nation with various projects in the Urban Northeast, the Atlantic Coast, the Appalachians, the Gulf Coast and the Desert Southwest. With such a powerful leadership board and diverse array of creative projects, Empress Land is a force for social justice. The Empresses who have made creative social justice their life's mission are doing some incredible work toward that end.

April 15, 2010
Every 9 Seconds was a variety show of music, poetry and fine art to raise money for the Shelter House of Northwest Florida. Musicians included Destiny Reggae and the talented Lancaster family of the Playground Recording Studio. Empress Land thanks them for their contributions to make this event a success.

November 20, 2010
Della was invited to volunteer as an Executive Committee member of the Healing Story Alliance, helping to create connections with other storytellers who work as healers. In addition to researching the history of the HSA and advising the web designer, she also maintains the HSA Facebook page.

February 10, 2011
An Evening of Storytelling at Shakti in the Mountains to benefit The Amazing Woman Foundation. Together with the brilliant storytellers at ETSU's Storytelling department, these talented performers will continue to produce fundraiser events and empowerment workshops.

June 9, 2011
Shakti in the Mountains holds seasonal Infusion events to raise money for community groups and the Shakti Infusion for this summer was to benefit Safe Passage women's shelter for domestic violence survivors. Della told an original story accompanied by the acapella stylings of Allison Mullins, who also donated a massage. Dana Gillian and Layla Wright also contributed their talents to make the event a success.

Shakti in the Mountains will also provide the amazing victorian women's center for Della McGuire to debut her Master's recital show. The donations for this event will also benefit Safe Passage women's shelter in Johnson City. For advance tickets or further details, please call Della at 850-582-8487.
